How to Stay Organized All Year Long

How to Stay Organized All Year Long

Staying organized might seem like an overwhelming task, but it’s not as daunting as you may think. Today, we’re diving into practical tips and strategies to help you stay organized at work, at home, and everywhere in between.

Start with a Plan

One of the easiest ways to stay organized is to start each day with a plan. We talked about making your planner your home base in our How to Get and Stay Organized blog. Take five minutes each morning to check-in and review your tasks, appointments, goals, and write down any priorities for the day. This will act as a map for you to follow throughout the day.

Track Your Progress

Getting organized is a task, while staying organized is a habit that you create and practice. You can use a Habit Tracker to track and monitor your progress over time and make changes if something isn’t working for you. For example, if you want to check your planner each morning, start tracking your progress. This provides motivation to keep you going and helps keep you on track each month.

Declutter

Decluttering isn’t always about throwing things away—it can also be about creating an organized system that you’re able to sustain.

Decluttering Steps:

  1. Throw it away
  2. Give everything a home
  3. Practice daily organizing
  4. Track your progress

Steps to Declutter Notes
Throw away trash, outdated papers, and completed to-dos Not everything can be thrown out - This is your time to throw out any crumpled paper, completed task lists, etc.
Give everything a home Having a clean and minimal space starts with giving everything a home. Our acid-free Storage Box Set can help with that.
Practice daily organizing Make cleaning up a daily task—Give yourself five minutes at the end of your work day to focus on organizing your desk for the next day.
Track your progress If you want any habit to stick, it’s helpful to track your progress with a habit tracker. It serves as motivation to keep going while you monitor your progress over time.

Write it Down

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when you’re trying to remember all the tasks you need to do, especially right before bed. Journaling has many benefits and can be a very healing process, helping you declutter the chaos and giving your mind and body the rest you need. Getting and staying organized doesn’t mean sacrificing your mental health. Pick out a favorite writing tool and a classic Notebook, Workbook, or our Plans Journal to start journaling today.

Staying organized is a journey that requires consistent effort. With a solid plan, the right tools, and a willingness to adapt, you can stay on track all year long. Remember that staying organized is not just about being productive, it’s also about reducing stress and improving your overall quality of life. Implement these habits today to stay organized all year long. If you’re looking for more tips to help with yearly planning, check out our How to Organize Your Year Task Planner blog post.
