March 2025 marks Appointed's 10th anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, we set out to create a special-edition collection of products that not only celebrate our core values but also represent all the things our customers love about our products—classic stationery with refined details that you can actually use in your everyday life. We're sharing the behind-the-scenes of designing, prototyping, and creating this special set.
Classic Design & All-New Construction
Like with all new product development, we start by thinking about you—our customer. What are the functional tools you use in your everyday life? Inspired by our first and best-selling product, The Notebook, we decided to introduce an alternative option with a never-before-seen construction—and The Journal was born.
We quickly began designing and landed on Oxford Blue (one of our top-selling colors and quintessential Appointed hues) and silver—the traditional colors to mark 10 years. We decided to forgo our signature wire-o binding, and instead constructed this journal with classic center sewn binding, making it perfect for journaling and note-taking on the go.
Thoughtful and purposeful elements like double-sided lined pages, an elastic closure, and silver foil detailing culminate in a finished product that's both beautiful and functional—and of course American-made.
The Perfect Accessories
We then set out to pair this classic journal with the perfect everyday accessories. Taking our fan-favorite page markers and no. 2 pencils as inspiration, we designed the Steel Page Markers and classic No. 2 Pencils. Silver and blue foil details and sleek modern design make these the elevated classics you'll end up using day after day. The page markers are made of paper-thin, precision-cut steel for a minimal, elegant, and functional bookmark or placeholder. For the No. 2 Pencil Set, traditional blue and white design meets the smoothest writing experience thanks to top-quality wood.
