Seven years ago today, I launched the Appointed Kickstarter Campaign. I distinctly remember how I felt that day—nerves about the uncertainty, excitement for what was to come, and confidence in what I had to offer. The idea for Appointed and the kind of products I wanted to create had been brewing in my mind for years leading up to that day, and the months previous were spent designing, planning, and dreaming.
Over the last seven years, the Signature Notebook that launched Appointed has stood the test of time, remaining nearly identical to the original prototype. It has also become a cult-favorite product in the world of paper goods, and our top best-seller year after year. It’s been a joy to see this product used up and used well by our customers, emblazoned with the logos of countless companies via our Custom & Volume Program, and released in new colors as the years have passed. Looking back on the early days, the values we built this company on and our overall goal remains the same—to create beautiful tools that inspire beautiful work. I am equally as inspired today as I was in 2015 by how our customers use our products. From teachers who use our academic planners for lesson planning, to designers who carry our classic grid notebooks with them everywhere they go for notes & sketches, our customers have shared so many stories of how our products fit into their everyday. We’ve come a long way over the years thanks to our customers, retailers and a very dedicated team, and we are so excited for what’s next.
Our goal for this blog, Noteworthy, is to provide an inspiring resource for our customers and to share more behind-the-scenes from our team. I also look forward to sharing insight on growing a company and our design philosophy on creating products that enrich and inspire. Here's to seven more years (and even more to come).
