Nice American made pencil
As far as I know, there have recently been only 3 pencil manufacturers still operating in the U.S.; then I learned of these Appointed pencils. I was not sure if Appointed was making them in house or if they were made by one of the 3 U.S. manufacturers. I gave them a try and am pleased with them. The box is similar in design to a Harvest pencil box, the wood is of good quality, and the lead is not bad - not as smooth as a pencil from Japan, but smoother than low end pencils. I feel it closely resembles the lead of a Ceres pencil. But what really stands out is the paint. It is a very smooth, matte finish, not glossy. I don't think I've ever seen a pencil (at least not a yellow #2 hex pencil) with a matte finish. But it looks really nice and feels really nice. The eraser is not bad either. Unless you are one of those writers who insists on a super buttery lead, like the Japanese pencils, I doubt this pencil will disappoint you, especially if you want an American made pencil that is of good quality.
